An increasing
number of parents commute to Manukau and Auckland for employment. Features of Hill School The school is focussed on providing a strong educational programme based on the New Zealand curriculum. Staff are committed to offering children a challenging range of learning opportunities that promote academic, physical, social, emotional and cultural development. A virtues programme is an important part of the culture and ethos of our school, and recent initiatives include a student Enviro Group and our being part of the Health Promoting Schools programme. A successful innovation at Hill, is that all 5 year old children beginning school are initially placed in a Reception Class as part of preparing them for entry into a New Entrant class.

Hill School has a compulsory uniform for all students. A uniform list is included with the school's enrolment package. The school provides a range of programmes for children with special learning needs including those with English as a second language. We also recognise the gifts and abilities of students through the provision of enrichment programmes. The school has a gifted and talented co-ordinator and is also linked to the Franklin Gifted and Talented Network. The school has a reasonably "open door" approach which complements communication and consultation with our school community. The partnership
we have with families is part of the strength of the school as it continues
its fine tradition as one of Pukekohe's leading educational facilities. |
